Not So Lucky :(

Thought I would show you a card that I submitted to the last call from Papercrafts magazine that didn't get accepted - not so lucky :( I paper pieced Paper Makeup Stamps Hershey monster with some green paper from DCWV Springstack.

A pretty simple card and I thought it turned out pretty cute, but I'm not going to hold a grudge. Maybe I'll just take Hershey's advice and follow suit :0)

Eye Adore You!!

Where has the time gone!! I've been super busy, crafting even, but I can't believe I've let my posting slip. Shame shame shame!! I guess I need to do a little week in review since I missed ALL of last week . . .

First off is this cutie card I made using Dreck from paper Makeup Stamps. Love the punny sentiment that coordinates with him. I coulda shoulda used this for my DH's Valentine. DOH!

Instead, I'm using it as an entry in this weeks challenge at the Woodware USA blog to create a shaped card - perfect!

Next up is a pic of my other valentines. Every year I make a traditional dinner of a heart meatloaf, pink mashed potatoes, and "cupids arrows" (a.k. french style greens beans). We all eat by candelight on heart shaped plates and the boys get to drink red juice out of wine glasses. You can tell by the pic how absolutely thrilled they are!! They're favorite part, dessert of course. I try to make it different every year. This year we had red velvet cheesecake - yum!

Last week we found out that our middle son was selected as our school districts Artist of the Month!! Here he is with his artwork that is on display at our local civic center. He thought it was pretty cool to see his work framed so nicely and on display. So did I, we're very proud of him!

Finally, here is a pic of my V-day present from my DH. No, not the mirror, or the flowers. My DH spent 4 days putting all of the stone up on our fireplace and creating the mantle!! It's been an ugly shade of naked grey durarock for a couple of years now. We bought the stone on sale, used some leftover wood from another project. Total cost about $300.00!!! Absolutely LOVE it!.
Hope you had a LOVE-ly week last week and looking forward to a super cool one this week too :0)

Things We Love

Paper Makeup Stamps is turning 2 years old! And to celebrate the occasion, the entire design team invited special crafters to play along in this hop. To see everyone involved, please go back to the Paper Makeup Stamps company blog for a master list as well as to enter yourself to win a super fabulous prize!

The theme for this months hop is "The Things We Love. I decided to make a card dedicated to what I love most . . .my family and friends. Just as the quote on this card states, my family and friends sustain me, they give me purpose and without them my life would be empty.

One of my friends is a super talented crafter and a coworker of mine. I love her quirky style and I was excited she was able to join us this month. I'm sure she will have something fun to share with you, so off you go to Tiffanys' blog. But don't forget to join us tonight in the forum for more fun!

Toodles and happy hopping!

Groundhog Dump!

Today was February 2nd, Groundhog Day. The day we are supposed to find out whether we will have an early Spring or 6 more weeks of winter weather. However, if you live anywhere in the midwest, I think the answer is plainly obvious, groundhog or no groundhog! Last night and into today we were dumped on by 20+ inches of snow!!

I decided to use my day off from work (yep, EVERYTHING was shut down) to make this card for this weeks Mojo Monday challenge, using Groundhog day and our recent snowfall as inspiration :0)

My little groundhog dude and the pp was from DCWV Greenstack. The sentiment is from Paper Makeup Stamps (perfect for my groundhog theme). I cut felt into the shape of a hilly snowbank and sewed it onto my card. The pink ribbon and button were added as a pop of color.

And here are a few pictures of the snow . . .

That is NOT the door, but the impression in the snow when we opened the back door!

A view from the street and all of the snow we have to get OUT of the driveway!

About 6 hours of shoveling and my car was free'd!! That is about 3 feet of solid packed snow on the hood of the car! I think it will take longer than 6 weeks to melt all of the snow we got!

School has already been canceled for tomorrow . . .the boys are loving it!

Hope your day was warm and cozy!
Thanks for stopping by!
