BlackCat Band Starring SG6

It's Sketch Girl time!! We're on number 6 already! Time really flies when you're having fun!

The change of seasons here turned in ONE DAY!! Sunday was sunny and beautiful, but by Monday morning there were 50 mph wind gusts and 20 degree lower temps! I think that kicked my mojo into fall mode because I've been in a Halloween mood lately. I can't wait to get out all my spooky stuff and start decorating - perhaps this weekend if the weather cooperates :0)

This card uses some Cotton Scraps by Crafty Secrets. The image is actually printed on a thin canvas like material - there are about 8-10 images on one sheet and they are all of that vintagey, whimsical, postcard/poster style. Love it!

Head on over to the Sketch Girl blog to check out what the others have come up with - I am! There are even some prizes and a guest designer spot up for grabs.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful FALL day!

Tricky Mummy

My friend Tiffany, got me to try coloring on kraft with Copics and now I just can't stop!! I started out just playing around tyring to see how I could make the mummy white and it turned out so cute (IMO), that I had to turn him into a little card!

The mummy and sentiment are both from PMS's latest release and the little goody bag was just a little stamp I had in my stash. Never used it before, I think it came out of the clearance bin at Archivers, but it worked perfectly in the mummy's cold, clammy, clutches :0)

The mummy was colored in with a white Prisma color pencil and then he was outlined with a Copic N3. The fringy black ribbon kinda reminded me of creepy crawly black spiders with all of their hairy little legs!

I've got lots of things coming up this week, so stay tuned! Tomorrow is the latest Sketch Girl 6 design and later on in the week . . . a couple of surprises :0)

Have a "treat" of a day!

Color My World!

First of all let me just say WHOO HOO THANK YOU! To Cath from Moxie Fab World for selecting one of my cards in the "Around the House Challenge" I was so excited to see my card selected - makes me all giggly and giddy :0) And a second THANK YOU to everyone that left such sweet comments. It's so weird and fun to have such sweet blogging buddies that you truly appreciate and care about but have never even met! You all are just wonderful!

Last night my youngest son was up to his eyeballs in homework - Kindergarten homework! And is probably the norm with Kindergarten homework, it involved lots and lots of coloring. He wasn't too happy about it. Apparently there were soo many more important things he could have been doing! So, I thought it might make things a little better and less traumatic if while he was doing his coloring homework, I would sit beside him and do some coloring myself. . .

I LOVE to color! I find it relaxing, rewarding and just plain ol' fun!! This first card used some Unity rubber that hadn't seen ink yet! Unbelievable, I know! These teapots are actually two different stamps but they look so cute together don't ya think?

This second card uses an image by Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper. That girl has a way with chickens, I tell you. Too stinkin' cute! I gave him some polka dots with a white gel pen. The ribbon is some yumy new stuff from Stampin Up! and the pp is from October Afternoon.

Finally, this last little card was a smorgasboard of stamps! The turtle is from Unity, the cupcake was a Michael's dollar bin purchase and the sentiment was from ??? I'm sure it's on the block of wood, but can't think of it right now.

As you can see I was in a Not Quite Navy mood last night. I think it was mostly because the paper was already cut, it was lying right in front of me and it just seemed to go well with the colors I chose to color in the images with.

Well, my son eventually got his homework done (with a little help from mom - I just couldn't resist :0) And I got a chance to get some "fun-work" done too!

Thanks for stopping by, hope you all have a wonderful colorful weekend!

Toodles,
Randee

Birthday for Tiffany

Whew! What a busy weekend. Boys and DH went to Indiana for Jiu Jitsu tournament (1st and 2nd place yay!) , garage sale on Sat., Scout pancake breakfast on Sun. followed by popcorn selling and Bears game :0) I did get a wee bit of time to make this card for my friend Tiffany. It's always harder trying to create a card for a fellow stamper and cardmaker.

I think I have just about exhausted my supply of this paper by The Paper Studio. I just love it. The little velvet present was an embelishment I've had in my stash for ages. I was so happy to be able to use it. I used a piece of SU velvet ribbon on the side to help pull it together. It looks very rich :0) I used a red Twinklettes glitter pen to color in the FYI for just a little added sparkle! Finally I used retired SU! silver cording to tie in with the silver dots on the top of the present.

Thanks for stopping by and having a look. Hope the rest of your week is filled with sparkle!

I Love you Mower!

A quick card and a quick post today. I made this card with the 2S4U sketch in mind.

I got this cute little stamp from Whipper Snapper. I stamped right on the pp and used Copics to color it in. Papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Lil' Man collection - Love em! The base is Soft Suede from SU! This color is growing on me "mower and mower" everyday!!

Hope everyone has a wonderful day today - weekend is almost here!

Apple of my Eye

Hey there! Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. This is a card I created for two challenges this week. First, it is round 5 for Sketch Girls. I love participating in these Sketch Challenges because they give me 2 weeks to complete them (although most times I'm STILL creating at the last minute!). I used SG5 sketch and Paper Makeup Stamps challenge to make a flap card to come up with this;

I was soo excited when I got home yesterday to find an envelope from PMS containing this awesome apple set waiting for me! These apples are so darn cute and fun to color. I love that they come in almost every stage of consumption :0) There are even a couple more not depicted in this card.

Sorry if the picture is kind of wonky. I'm getting a little sad that my daylight is fading. Since I work out of the home, my opportunity for taking pictures is slowly shrinking. No more morning sunshine. Right now I'm not getting good light until it's time to walk out the door. And sooner than later I'll be leaving in the dark and sometimes coming home in the dark - yuck!

Anywhoo, hop on over to the Sketch Girl blog to check out the other awesome creations and see who was selected as the 1st SG guest designer! Or hop on over to PMS and check out their latest release of stamps - including this apple set - awesome!

Have a Golden Delicious day!

"Monsters of the Midway" PMS Style !!

Are you ready for some football???!!!! I am! 1st games of the season start tomorrow!! I love dressing up to support my team, making some not so healthy game day food, and spending a Sunday afternoon with family and friends hootin' and hollerin' at the T.V. :0) So can you guess who I'm cheering for?? Clue #1 - Blue and Orange, Clue #2 - I'm from Northern Illinois, Clue #3 - (and oh so appropriate) one of their nicknames is "Monsters of the Midway"!

Yep you guessed it - GO BEARS!!! I'm feeling hopeful and optimistic that we are going to have a GREAT season, thanks to a little help from Denver ;0) But anyway, on to the card . . . .

This was made for PMS's release party challenge to CASE a card from the PMS gallery on SCS and change two things. There are so many great ideas and gorgeous cards in there, that it was difficult to choose. But I loved this card by Christi Thorsen . It was simple, but fun! I love the scalloped black background, and I was dying to try the adorable way she added the ribbon.

I'm still looking for a stamp that says Wanna Play? If anyone knows where I could get one, let me know. I was looking through all of my sentiments trying to find the "perfect" one when I remembered the PMS Monster Sayings set had a stamp that read "Need a cuddle?" I was thinking, that would be kind of funny - a football monster wanting to cuddle - but wait!! If I change the "C" to a "H" I get "Need a huddle?" AAAHHHH how appropriate!!!!

It didn't come out as cleanly as I hoped, but the idea is still there and I still think it's pretty darn cute! There's still one more challenge that I'm hoping to get to later on today, but the weather is looking beautiful so I may be swayed to play outside instead :0) . Hope your day is filled with some playtime, and if you're not rooting for anyone tomorrow then give a shout out for the Monsters of the Midway :0) GO BEARS!!!

Big Cheesy Kitty Grin!

It's like eating a bag of potato chips! I can't stop at just one! But this is the last of the Caardvarks sketch challenges . . . I swear . . . mission complete! I had to think about this sketch for awhile. You know let it stew, carry it around in your pocket for a few days and look at it every know and then. I knew I wanted to make a Halloween card and I wanted to make it rather simple and get away from all of the layering I've been doing lately.

So. . . my first step was to look through my Halloween stamps. When it comes to Halloween images, without a doubt Hocus Pocus and Spooky Expressions by Anna Wight are my absolute favorites. Hands down, no if's, and's, or buts! I love everything about them, especially those big cheesy grins!!

I don't think a lot of 'splainin is needed on this one. I did distress the edges of the oval, pp, and cardstock. The background was stamped with Versamark and I added the little rhinestones underneath Mr. Cheesy to cover up an ink smudge :0). As a final touch I used a white gel pen to make Mr. Cheesy's teeth a bright pearly white - he just cracks me up!!

Thanks for stopping by and hope all your smiles are big and cheesy! :0)

Pocket Love

I loved ALL of the sketches that Heidi Van Laar created for the Caardvarks challenge that I had to play along again! Here's the second sketch I decided to play with:

And here's the card I came up with:

I was going through some of my little guys clothes to either throw away or give away and found an old tattered pair of jeans that obviously had seen it's better days, probably with all three boys ;0) I decided to cut out and save the pockets so I could use them on a card - recycling at it's creative finest!!

The quirky flower and leaf is a die by Quick Kutz. The pp is from SU! and I used the notebook paper punch along the edge. The paper is matted onto kraft cardstock and the edges were distressed with Ranger distressing ink.

I think this would make a fun card for a teenager. And in case you were wondering. The jeans were a size 3T. Any larger size and the pocket might be too big for typical card fronts.

Well, off to enjoy my last few hours of the extended weekend. Hope yours was funtastic!

Cake Sketch Card

I hope everyone is having a wonderful EXTENDED weekend!! I can tell you I really needed it :0) So far the weather has been cooperating which makes it extra nice. Now on to the card!

I chose this cake by Carries Cakes as inspiration for the PMS weekly challenge

I paired it with this fabulous sketch from the Caardvarks challenge - created by the uber talented Heidi Van Laar :)

And came up with this multi-textured, multi - layered card

I used my Scor-Pal to create the diamond patterned background. I oopsied on getting my sentiment on their straight, but since I had it all put together already I wasn't about to start over!! Handmade right? :0)
PMS is gearing up for their monthly release and the sneak peaks are awesome!!
And Heidi created not1, not2, but 3 awesome sketches for you to play along with over at Caardvarks.
Hope your holiday weekend is filled with fun, friends, and stamps :0)

Butter and Time Flies

Hey there! It's been a crazy week already. Still trying to get this school/activity routine worked out. This year is starting out a little more chaotic with my "baby" starting kindergarten, my middle guy starting 5th grade and my "tweenager" starting Junior High!! That means two different shools, two different buses, and 3 x everything else! Thank God for school lunches, velcro or slip on shoes, and travel coffee mugs !!

But enough about that. Here's a quick card I made at a workshop last Friday. The whole night was centered around demonstrating the fabulous Bigshot and all the wonderful accessories. I think it's pretty self
explanatory. For the PP background, I just cut it out with the top note die and then just trimmed around the dotted line to give the layered look. I sponged around the edges to soften the cut pp.

It's a really quick and cute card to make. The size is around 4 X4. I like it!
Thanks for stopping by! Hope the rest of your week is easy peasy!
