Baby Card

Was playing around and made a card last night. I found this idea on Odette's website. She makes some unbelievably beautiful baby cards. When I saw this little baby bib card I just had to try it out. Very little sttamping was done, just the little tag was stamped with a Studio G dollar stamp set I got at Michaels. The adorable little sticker was from a pack of Paperbilities 3-D stickers. The pp was from My Minds Eye. The shape was cut out with nestabilities and a Cuttlebug

Vellum/Acetate Monthly Card Challenge

This months card challenge with my friends at work was to create a card using acetate or vellum. I decided to use a technique I saw first posted by Linda Bullard on SCS where she embossed on vellum to give a 3-D effect.

I first stamped the turtle from SU! Nature Prints on cardstock weight vellum with Brown Staz -on ink. Then I flipped the image over onto a foam mouse pad and embossed the turtle with a stylus tool. I went around the whole shell and then just emobossed the little spots. It is hard to see the effect in the photos, but it turned out really cool. Great texture and feels really neat! I colored the turtle itself on the front side of the vellum with SU! markers and the background (blue and brown) was colored on the backside of the vellum. Coloring on the backside gives a softer muted color. However, the turtle wasn't green enough for me when I tried coloring him on the backside. The brown paper is actually mulberry. I was trying to give a more natural feel to the card. The inside of the card is stamped with a sentiment that read "Take time to enjoy the simple things in life". I don't usually make masculine cards, but I think this fits that category. Thanks for stopping by!!

Mojo Monday on Sunday!

Second post for the day!! Holy Moly, looks like some mommy got to spend some time doing what she really likes to do :0) Yep - was in my PJ's until about 1:00 p.m. stamping away before we headed off to my sons baseball game. I would've posted tomorrow, but I needed to get it uploaded to Mr. Linky before the clock ran out.

It's the 1st week of May so that means there are free stamps at stake for this weeks Mojo Monday challenge! For this card I used two sets from the Verve April release - my first purchase from this great company. Their images are so versatile and bold - love 'em. So who wouldn't want more ?!?!?. All of the paper is coodinating My Mind's Eye paper. I found them on clearance at a local craft store. They even had coordinating die cuts and clear acetate pieces that I just couldn't refuse :0) Thanks for looking!!

A Sunday Full of Challenges

(ETA: Thanks to Lauren for pointing out that my card met the qualifications for one of the Moxie Fab World challenges currently going on! Whoo Hoo 4 challenges with one card :0) )

I got a lot accomplished with this card! 4 challenges in one!! I'm listing them all and providing links for your blurfing enjoyment :0)

1. SFYTT - Jen Del Muros weekly sketch challenges are always fun to participate in. She comes up with some excellent layouts. I love looking at everyones interpretation.

2. Caardvarks - The challenge going on right now is to use a verse or quote in your design. A winner will be chosen to receive a release set from Unity Stamps!

3. Paper Makeup Stamps - In celebration of their recent release, they are issuing a color challenge. The colors to use are Baja Breeze/Bashful blue (Light blue), black, white, and gray (optional) A winner will be chosen to receive a $10 gift certificate to PMS!!

4. Moxie Fab Rainy Day Challenge - Create an encouragement card with a rainy day theme.

I paired my fav rainy day girl designed by Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper with a sentiment from Paper Makeup Stamps. I think she may be an all time favorite of mine :0) I never get tired of coloring her!

KWerner Challenge #51

Here is my submission for KWerners color challenge. It's been awhile, so it felt good to be able to play. The cupcake is a 4 part die cut from SU! After everything was punched out in the coordinating colors, I crimped the bottom half and embossed the top half of the cupcake to give it some dimension. Don't you think it looks like swirly frosting :0) ?? The sentiment is a rubon from SU! as well. I used a Sakura stardust glitter gel pen to color in the flames and sprinkles to give it some sparkle. Finally, the faux stitching is a sewing tracing wheel. It has a longer handle and is much easier to direct and use than the Cutter Bees.

MFT Idol Challenge - Inspired By SFYTT

This weeks MFT Idol Challenge was to create a card with the theme "women that inspire you" also as an added twist - use the colors pink and brown! I used this weeks SFYTT for the layout inspiration.

I decided to use the "How Sweet" MFT WTG set. Sometimes us miraculous women just need to kick off our shoes, kick up our heels . . . and eat a whole box of chocolates!! It's amazing how some of lifes worries can disappear with a bite . . . or two :0) And I thought the sentiment included with the set is perfect for my take on who inspires me . . . my sisters! Whether it be my two amazing siblings with their outgoing, do anything attitudes, or my girlfirends around me that inspire me daily with their ability to "do it all and make it look easy". Each one has touched my life for the better.

"Hugs and Kisses" to them all!!
