Whipper Snapper Weekend

Happy Monday, Happy February Everyone! Hope you all had a nice relaxing weekend. The weather is still cold here - not the biting bitter cold that it was last week (thank GOD)! But still cold enough to not go outside very much. I did bundle up yesterday morning and take the dog for a walk! He was very excited, I think the last time I did that was November!!

So with the weather still chilly and not much on the agenda, I was able to get a couple of cards made!! Here are the last two cards for the December/January Release of Anna Wight's Springtime Quilt and Quilting Forever for Whipper Snapper.

I loved how the cherries turned out on this first card. I got to play with some new red Copics I received a couple of weeks ago and I used some Crystal Effects to make the cherries nice and shiny and give them some dimension.



This next card came about just by me playing aroud. First I was just coloring in some images, not to sure what I was going to do with them. Then I wanted to play around with that zigzag stitch, I thought it would show up better against black. Finally I realized I had ribbon that matched exactly with the colors I was using in the image - voila!! Card is done.


I wanted to thank Anna Wight and Whipper Snapper for letting me play with 4 awesome sets these past couple of months. These last two sets really threw me out of my comfort zone - and I liked it :0)

On another note, I wanted to mention that yesterday afternoon I went to a firends house for an in home party. Can you guess what it was? Not jewelry, clothes, kitchen items or even stamps!!
It was a Dove CHOCOLATE party!! Lots and lots of yummy mixes, candies, martinis!! . . . all made with Dove chocolate :0)

Everyday Quilt

Here's another card showcasing one of the new Whipper Snapper December release cling mount sets. This card is made using Everday Quilt. I must admit, I am not a quilter. In fact, I barely even know how to turn on my sewing machine! But with these two sets, I can get the same look with rubber and ink ;0)



I tried to use bold, non traditional colors on this one and mounted them on black and then on white to make them stand out even more! The sentiment, also in the set, was set against the black ribbon so that it didn't get lost with everything else going on. I added the button and faux stitching (because as I said before, I am not a quilter and barely a seamstress) to go along with the theme of this card.

Here's a trick for you: Use little slivers of white scrap cardstock instead of thread in your buttons. It's easy to thread, you can make it whatever thickness you want, and if your like me there's PLENTY of it lying around :0)

I'm enjoying the last week of Christmas vacation preparing for the new year - out with the old, in with the new!! Cleaning out closets, drawers, taking down Christmas decorations, cleaning and purging the stamp room. However, I may have to take a break and find some stamping time too ;0)

Whipper Snapper December Release

Happy Post Christmas Everyone!! In addition to all of the merriment that's been going on lately, it's time for another Whipper Snapper cling mount set release by Anna Wight!!

This month the two sets are Springtime Quilt and Quilting Forever.

Todays card features sweet spring images from the Springtime Quilt set. I used paper from daisyds Spring Blossoms collections to give it that warm homespun feel.

Here's a closeup of that cute little bird to show you a little more of the dimension . . . and ALL that faux stitching :0)

Here's another card I made using the Anna Wights November release for Whipper Snapper. All three images are from the Think Snow set. The picture is really crappy, but all 3 tags are spritzed with my (at the moment favorite) Marshmallow Glimmer Mist.

Gardening Snowman

A quick post today to show you another card I made using one of Anna Wights November release sets titled Gardening Snowman. There are so many accessories in this set, I should have made it a snow woman - we love to accessorize!! The two birds, the birdhouse, the birdseed, they are all individual stamps.

I think I got a little carried away with the sewing machine :0) But I figure if I'm gonna lug the thing out, set it all up, that I might as well make good use of it! I added some sparkle to the top of the birdhouse and along the snowline with a Sakura stardust gel pen - doesn't like to photograph well. And it's also probably hard to tell that there are three layers to that snowman!! Finally, I added a little bling on each side of the sentiment to give it a little more emphasis, it kind of gets lost with everything else going on :0)

Looking forward to the nice long holiday? Starts tomorrow for me - I took the whole next week off!! Yippee!! We're headed out to see family - should be fun. So if it seems quiet around here - that's why. If you are traveling - hope all is safe and well. Gobble, gobble!!

Winter Chill

Hey all! Did I tell you that I am a WSFD for the months of November and December?! Hee Hee I'm just soo excited I had to say it again :0). Here's another card I made with the new Think Snow set.



This little ice skating penguin is the cutest! I kept this card pretty simple and resisted traditional winter holiday colors. I have several friends who have birthdays during the winter, and thought this would be a cute winter themed birthday card! It's starting to get chilly around here, time to start getting the winter coats, hats, and gloves out. I enjoy the changing of the seasons, and winter for about a month. Usually around December 26th I'm ready for things to start warming up :0)

Whipper Snapper November Release!!

O.K., Let me just say that I have been (not so) patiently waiting for this day for awhile now.

But first some background . . . My first step into blogland was through a link from Anna Wight's (A.K.A Sweet Miss Daisy) Splitcoast Stampers online gallery. I absolutely fell in love with her style, sense of humor and daily musings. I instantly became an avid follower and fan. She was my stamping idol! I bought all the tools she blogged about, I CASE'd her projects and cards and I practiced the tutorials she posted. I was thrilled when she ventured into the realm of designing stamps for Whipper Snapper. Her stamp designs are just as fabulous as the cards she creates. Always so heartwarming and filled with her sense of humor - some of them just crack me up! :0)

Soooo . . . when I received an email from Anna asking ME if I'd like to be a Whipper Snapper Featured Designer I just about pee'd my pants!! No, really!! She is my stamping rockstar and to let me go "on tour" with her for these next two months is literally a dream come true - Thanks Anna!

Today is RELEASE DAY for two of Anna's new sets!! Woo- Hoo!! Here's a peak;

Aren't they the cutest?? She always has the best sayings to coordinate with her images. I'm having fun playing with these sets and will be posting cards I made through out the week. Here's my first one to show you:

I don't think I've ever seen a snowman of hers I didn't like. She has a way with ice ice baby! (sorry I couldn't resist). This chubby little guy is from the Gardening Snowman set. I used the large SU! snowflake die to cut out the image on chipboard. I then used the negative image for the card. I distressed the chipboard with Ranger distress ink and then stamped the snowflake from Think Snow. I backed the image with a page from an old book, added some faux stitching and buttons. On the inside of the card I stamped the sentiment "Like a snowflake, you are one of a kind."

So, that's my first card as a Featured Designer for Whipper Snapper. I hope you like it. Both of Anna Wight's new sets are available today, over at Whipper Snapper Designs.

Dingle Bats!

This should be the last Halloween card, I promise! Time is running out - the witching hour is almost here! The bags of trick or treat candy have been sitting in the trunk of my car for the past 3 weeks to keep some sticky fingers out!! It can be worse than Christmas around here with everyone sneeking around trying to find the hidden stash :0) I just hope that some of it hasn't melted!!

With Halloween almost here, the stores are trying to get rid of their remaining seasonal items by giving deep discounts. That was the case with this dingle-bat fringe! I just thought they were soo adorable and there was only about 1 yard left and the price was right. I used some non-traditional colors here, not sure if I like them together, but I wanted the bats to stand out. I'm back to my go-to layout which can only mean that the mojo isn't flowing too strong right now :0)

Hopefully it will find it's way back. Maybe if I entice it with some hidden candy :0)

Color My World!

First of all let me just say WHOO HOO THANK YOU! To Cath from Moxie Fab World for selecting one of my cards in the "Around the House Challenge" I was so excited to see my card selected - makes me all giggly and giddy :0) And a second THANK YOU to everyone that left such sweet comments. It's so weird and fun to have such sweet blogging buddies that you truly appreciate and care about but have never even met! You all are just wonderful!

Last night my youngest son was up to his eyeballs in homework - Kindergarten homework! And is probably the norm with Kindergarten homework, it involved lots and lots of coloring. He wasn't too happy about it. Apparently there were soo many more important things he could have been doing! So, I thought it might make things a little better and less traumatic if while he was doing his coloring homework, I would sit beside him and do some coloring myself. . .

I LOVE to color! I find it relaxing, rewarding and just plain ol' fun!! This first card used some Unity rubber that hadn't seen ink yet! Unbelievable, I know! These teapots are actually two different stamps but they look so cute together don't ya think?

This second card uses an image by Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper. That girl has a way with chickens, I tell you. Too stinkin' cute! I gave him some polka dots with a white gel pen. The ribbon is some yumy new stuff from Stampin Up! and the pp is from October Afternoon.

Finally, this last little card was a smorgasboard of stamps! The turtle is from Unity, the cupcake was a Michael's dollar bin purchase and the sentiment was from ??? I'm sure it's on the block of wood, but can't think of it right now.

As you can see I was in a Not Quite Navy mood last night. I think it was mostly because the paper was already cut, it was lying right in front of me and it just seemed to go well with the colors I chose to color in the images with.

Well, my son eventually got his homework done (with a little help from mom - I just couldn't resist :0) And I got a chance to get some "fun-work" done too!

I Love you Mower!

A quick card and a quick post today. I made this card with the 2S4U sketch in mind.

I got this cute little stamp from Whipper Snapper. I stamped right on the pp and used Copics to color it in. Papers are from Cosmo Cricket's Lil' Man collection - Love em! The base is Soft Suede from SU! This color is growing on me "mower and mower" everyday!!

Big Cheesy Kitty Grin!

It's like eating a bag of potato chips! I can't stop at just one! But this is the last of the Caardvarks sketch challenges . . . I swear . . . mission complete! I had to think about this sketch for awhile. You know let it stew, carry it around in your pocket for a few days and look at it every know and then. I knew I wanted to make a Halloween card and I wanted to make it rather simple and get away from all of the layering I've been doing lately.

So. . . my first step was to look through my Halloween stamps. When it comes to Halloween images, without a doubt Hocus Pocus and Spooky Expressions by Anna Wight are my absolute favorites. Hands down, no if's, and's, or buts! I love everything about them, especially those big cheesy grins!!

I don't think a lot of 'splainin is needed on this one. I did distress the edges of the oval, pp, and cardstock. The background was stamped with Versamark and I added the little rhinestones underneath Mr. Cheesy to cover up an ink smudge :0). As a final touch I used a white gel pen to make Mr. Cheesy's teeth a bright pearly white - he just cracks me up!!

Spooky Cuttlebug Challenge!

Hey there! It's been a lazy end of the week since the boys have been gone! No running every night to one activity or the other, making sure everyone is fed, referee-ing fights . . . I miss ' em terribly, but I'm enjoying it :0)

SO!! I got a chance to have some fun stamping. When I saw the Cuttlebug Challenge Blogs Wednesday post I was very excited to play along. Any altered item (preferebly out of your recycle bin), just not a card! Hmm . . . what to do, what to do. I wanted to do something for Halloween (cause I REALLY wanted to use the Spider Web embossing folder). I decided to make a treat container out of and empty can that used to hold pineapple chunks. Its a little bit larger than the normal size - it's 20 oz. Here's how it turned out . . .



Pretty cute huh? I made a corresponding gift card that can be tied to the handle. Here's a close up of the card.

Aren't these stamps adorable?! They are both images from Anna Wights Spooky Expressions set for Whipper Snapper. You've got to check them out - Hocus Pocus is another fav, and her newest Halloween set is on my wish list too :0) I was originally planning on embossing black cardstock, but I decided to go for a vintage feel to coordinate with the Crafty Secrets vintage halloween images I used around the card. So, I embossed on white and distressed around the edges with Ranger distress ink in sepia. I matted the white on black cardstock I had originally started out with, so when you open the gift card, the reverse web design still shows - pretty cool!

I used 3 images from the Crafty Secrets Vintage cuts sheet around the can. They are all so adorable :0) I matted each one on a coordinating piece of colored cardstock and then on black. Hard to tell, but I faux stitched around each image as well. And one last added note. A 4 1/4 X 11 strip of card stock is perfect to fit around this can. And even better, you can easily stick the embossing folder on each end of the cardstock to get the image easily all the way around!!

I used my Crop-o-dile to punch two holes on either side (works like a charm and so effortless). Then used some rusty wire to create the handle. For a little added touch I tied this gorgeous black and tan striped ribbon around the handle and added a cute little skeleton jingle bell - I even rubbed a little sepia ink on him to age him a little bit more :0)

There are lots of details on this one, but in the end, my favorite part is the web background. I LOVE how the distressing ink emphasizes it so much more. This is definitely a fav!!

A Sunday Full of Challenges

(ETA: Thanks to Lauren for pointing out that my card met the qualifications for one of the Moxie Fab World challenges currently going on! Whoo Hoo 4 challenges with one card :0) )

I got a lot accomplished with this card! 4 challenges in one!! I'm listing them all and providing links for your blurfing enjoyment :0)

1. SFYTT - Jen Del Muros weekly sketch challenges are always fun to participate in. She comes up with some excellent layouts. I love looking at everyones interpretation.

2. Caardvarks - The challenge going on right now is to use a verse or quote in your design. A winner will be chosen to receive a release set from Unity Stamps!

3. Paper Makeup Stamps - In celebration of their recent release, they are issuing a color challenge. The colors to use are Baja Breeze/Bashful blue (Light blue), black, white, and gray (optional) A winner will be chosen to receive a $10 gift certificate to PMS!!

4. Moxie Fab Rainy Day Challenge - Create an encouragement card with a rainy day theme.

Windshield or Bug!

Isn't he the cutest thing! How could you not start feeling better after looking at him!! He just makes me giggle. This is my newest and currently favorite stamp from Anna Wight and Whipper Snapper - "Caught a Bug". I paired him with a new stamp set I recently acquired from Paper Makeup Stamps. On the inside of the card is a stamp of a splattered bug and the saying "feel better soon". Paper Makeup Stamps was hosting a challenge to use ribbon on your card. That was pretty easy for me! My cards feel naked without a little ribbon somewhere!!

I was feeling like a squished bug yesterday, not because I was feeling ill, but just felt like I kept hitting a bunch of obstacles. Ever have one of those? Hopefully today I'll have more of a windshield day ;0)

Kitty Sympathy

This card is going out in the mail to my sister today. She just had to make the heartbreaking decision to put her faithful furry friend of 19 years (yes you read that right! 19 YEARS) to sleep. She got "Boots" (aka as Bootsie) when she was in high school. He was her first love. He survived a move to the West Coast, a marriage, 3 kids, two more cats and a dog!! It sucks that our furry companions have such a shorter life span. But for a kitty, Bootsie had a good long one. And a quick note about this card: I don't have that wavy label die, but Michael's had these in their clearance section. They are actually supposed to be used for wedding table cards! They are a heavier cardstock weight and already have the turquoise border around them. Just punch them out and you're done!

TCP Tuesday Inspiration Challenge

The Cats Pajamas hosts a weekly challenge and depending on the week it could be color, a specific stamp set or a picture. I decided to participate when I saw this picture of colored pencils. The circles and bright colors just appealed to me and made me smile!

I used an image of sunflowers from Whipper Snapper and masked them to create a field full. I chose random bright colors to color them in and then grounded them all with the same color petals. I don't think Sunflowers or any flower comes in all these colors, but they're bright and cheerful and make me smile :0)

Truffle Pun

It's Thursday and I'm just getting my Mojo for Monday! On Sunday my DH and I went to Cracker Barrel for a nice breakfast (w/o kids :0)) As always, and purposely I think, we had to wait and hang around the endless sea of useless stuff. But in the "I heart chocolate" section I saw the cutest pillow with this saying on it. I knew I need to get it on paper and put it together with my Three Chocolate Truffles stamp by Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper. I didn't have a stamp with this saying (Note to stamp companies - this would make a very cute stamp). So I just printed it out on cardstock. I wish I would have scaled down the card size so that the truffles would appear bigger - who doesn't love a BIGGER piece of chocolate :0). But it was late and I didn't want to deviate to far from the Mojo Monday layout. I used LOTS and LOTS of pop dots on this card, sometimes stacked two high! This card was fun to make. TFL!

Friends Bloom in Color

This is my card for the monthly card swap with my fellow stampers here at work. This months theme was get well/sympathy. However, I think my card falls more into the "Thinking of You" category. The sentiment inspired the design of this card. I wanted the flower to be the focal point and the only thing in color. So who better to hold the flower than this cute little Panda! No coloring there - I think he's perfect. He looked like he had his hand (paw) behind his back so I stamped him first and then masked him and added the flower to look like he was holding it. I decided to add a bit more color with the ribbon and button in coordinating colors of the flower. The layout of the card was loosely taken from this weeks SFYTT. TFL.

Here is a card I made for my 1st ever CAARDvarks challenge. The theme for this months was "critters". This cute little worm stamp is from Whipper Snapper, one of my fav companys. And the idea for this card was inspired by the ever talented Sweet Miss Daisy (Anna Wight). You can check out her card here. She will soon be releasing a new set, which I can tell from the sneak peaks, is guaranteed to be on my "must have" list!Recipe:

Got Soup?

I finally got through the busy week and weekend and got a chance to stamp last night! So here is my contribution for Kwerners challenge. I liked the colors this week and used them to put this card together. The stamp is one of my loved but not very inky Anna Wight Whipper Snapper stamps. I want this to be a get well card with the saying, "Got Soup?" but the image is pretty large and the saying didn't fit well on the front of the card.
