A Sunday Full of Challenges

(ETA: Thanks to Lauren for pointing out that my card met the qualifications for one of the Moxie Fab World challenges currently going on! Whoo Hoo 4 challenges with one card :0) )

I got a lot accomplished with this card! 4 challenges in one!! I'm listing them all and providing links for your blurfing enjoyment :0)

1. SFYTT - Jen Del Muros weekly sketch challenges are always fun to participate in. She comes up with some excellent layouts. I love looking at everyones interpretation.

2. Caardvarks - The challenge going on right now is to use a verse or quote in your design. A winner will be chosen to receive a release set from Unity Stamps!

3. Paper Makeup Stamps - In celebration of their recent release, they are issuing a color challenge. The colors to use are Baja Breeze/Bashful blue (Light blue), black, white, and gray (optional) A winner will be chosen to receive a $10 gift certificate to PMS!!

4. Moxie Fab Rainy Day Challenge - Create an encouragement card with a rainy day theme.

I paired my fav rainy day girl designed by Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper with a sentiment from Paper Makeup Stamps. I think she may be an all time favorite of mine :0) I never get tired of coloring her!

MFT Idol Challenge - Inspired By SFYTT

This weeks MFT Idol Challenge was to create a card with the theme "women that inspire you" also as an added twist - use the colors pink and brown! I used this weeks SFYTT for the layout inspiration.

I decided to use the "How Sweet" MFT WTG set. Sometimes us miraculous women just need to kick off our shoes, kick up our heels . . . and eat a whole box of chocolates!! It's amazing how some of lifes worries can disappear with a bite . . . or two :0) And I thought the sentiment included with the set is perfect for my take on who inspires me . . . my sisters! Whether it be my two amazing siblings with their outgoing, do anything attitudes, or my girlfirends around me that inspire me daily with their ability to "do it all and make it look easy". Each one has touched my life for the better.

"Hugs and Kisses" to them all!!

Paper Butterfly

It's a rainy spring morning here . . . again, but they PROMISE sunshine and 80's by this weekend! YIPPEE! This card was created with two challenges in mind;

1. Jen Del Muro's SFYTT (Sketch for You to Try) and
2. Paper Makeup Stamps Weekly Challenge

The Paper Makeup challenge was to use the colors Kraft, Old Olive, Cameo Coral and Summer Sun. I cheated a little and threw in some black, but I consider that a neutral :) The colors and DP I chose had a "springy" feel to it so I decided to use the butterfly image from Paper Makeup Stamps -Buggy Sayings set. I stamped, colored and cut it out but I thought it needed to be more of a focal point so I stamped it again in the same DP, cut it out and layered it on top of the first image. This way I was able to fan the wings out and give it some dimension.

The sentiment is a $1 stamp I found at Michaels. I thought it went well with this card and could easily be used for a new house or even Mothers Day. Thanks for looking!

Shopping With Friends

This is my attempt at combining two challenges in one;

1. The SFYTT by Jen del Muro at I (heart) to Stamp.
2. The 2nd week judges challenge for My Favorite Things "MFT Idol".

The layout was fun and worked well with the image I chose for the MFT challenge. The MFT challenge was to incorporate masking into your card. For that I combined two MFT sets; Lets Go For a Walk and Say Charge. To create the image I first stamped the girl and the dogs. Then I stamped a duplicate image on a scratch piece of paper, cut it out and layed it on top of my main image and stamped the purse so it looked like the Great Dane was carrying it in his mouth. Next, I stamped a shopping bag in the girls hand. Finally, I stamped and cut out a scratch shopping bag, layed that over the stamped image and stamped a second shopping bag to look like she was holding two!

For the inside of the card I stamped the shopping bag repeatedly with masking in different areas to give a random look to the bags. They did LOTS of shopping :0) I tried paper piecing for the 1st time by stamping the shopping bag on the same DP used on the front of the card, cutting it out and adhereing it to one of the stamped images on the inside of the card.

Feelin' Green!

Happy St. Paddy's day! This cute little beaver dude was an image cut out of a 12x12 piece of paper from DCWV's "Green Stack". The papers are made with 70% recycled paper and feature cute woodsy and environment related designs. Really CUTE! And the texture and weight of the paper is wonderful too.
The layout is from this weeks SFYTT. I don't have the oval die cuts so I just sponged the scalloped oval to give it some dimension. I doodled the grass and created the shamrock using 4 punched hearts. TFL

I Get By with a Little Help . . .

Here's a card I put together at the last minute (this morning). I love the SFYTT's that i{heart}2stamp.com offers every week. They are so much fun. The hard part of the card design is done for you, you just need to pick a stamp and colors to work with! For this card I chose a cute little Penny Black stamp I found sitting at the bottom of a clearance bin. I'm a frugal stamper so I LOVE the clearance bins!! To me, these stamps represent either what other stampers thought weren't worthy of purchasing or they just couldn't figure out how to use them. So when I can use them to come up with something I think is just to darn cute, it makes it all the more enjoyable :0) And I definitely think these guys are just too darn cute! FYI: the black and white chipboard accent flower was from a clearance bin too :0)

Once in a lifetime . . .

I was blurfing the other day looking for some inspiration for an upcoming paper challenge when I came across this SFYTT (sketch for you to try) at Jen del Muro's site i{heart}2stamp.com. The paper I was given seemed masculine to me so I went with it. The true test was when I gave it to my hubby for his opinion. He turns to mush with anything having to do with father/son relationships so this one got his seal of approval. He even suggested I make it bigger and frame it!
