1. My older two are thinking it's not so much fun if Mom tags along for trick or treating. They think they can cover more ground if they leave mom and little brother in the dust!
2. I think I've finally hit the point where I know longer have any say in what their costumes will be :0(
We had a near nuclear melt down last night because my 5 yr old didn't want to wear the adorable spider hat and web costume I was going to make for him. He was - stomp your foot on the ground- for sure going to be the store bought, mass produced Star Wars Storm Trooper that he was last year. After many attempts at coersion, bribery and near tears (on my part), I gave in. I decided there are bigger battles to win and that my days of coming up with cute, coordinating, creative costumes are over. Snif Snif . . . O.K., enough wallowing in self pity . . . onto the card! . . .
It's the 30th which means another Sketch Girl Challenge is up on the blog, you can click the link on the sidebar to take a look. I twisted the sketch on it's side so that I could use the main panel with this weeks FREE word art download from Paper Makeup Stamps. I thought this would be a cute card for my 5 yr olds teacher. I used PP from DCWV First Grader paper pack, coordinates well with the quote don't ya think?
I couldn't think of anything else to do with that extra little panel to the side of the word art, so I just added a nice big pretty bow with a cute little rubber button in primary colors. I also added a little bling in each corner to focus on the word art. I wish more of the feet and alphabet would have been visible, but the card is already 5 1/2 inches and I didn't want to go any larger.
Well, hope you all have a frightfully fun weekend with lots of treats, sweets, and cooperative little goblins :0) Have Fun!

Randee, I haven't had a say in my kids costumes in years and they are only 5 and 8! LOL Your card is adorable and I love the bow-it looks so soft.
ReplyDeleteTotally cute card! I love the little feet at the bottom!
ReplyDeleteI lost my 5yr old's willingness to comply with mommy's ideas this year too...and it's been at least 2 years since the seven year old would cooperate! Ah well, I still have a two year old, I can probably bend HIM to my will for a couple more years! Bwa ha ha!

Oh my goodness, this is so cute!
ReplyDeleteCute, cute and if crayons can do why can't the rest of us.....
ReplyDeleteOOOH...I love the shoes at the bottom best!
ReplyDeleteThis is very cute. I love how you flipped the sketch and that luscious bow! Have a happy Halloween!
ReplyDeletevery pretty, i love your take on the sketch this week! happy halloween...i can totally symphasize with your older child drama...i have it too! >"<
ReplyDeleteCute card. Love your bow with the button. Great job on the sketch :o)
ReplyDeleteThat phrase is the best - I will have to go grab it :>) I like the way you turned the sketch and just like Leigh Ann, used the ribbon in the center.
ReplyDeleteI can sympathize on the costumes, my oldest was changing her mind so often that I gave up! No family theme this year :>)
This is so cute!! I love that quote... so awesome! Sorry about the costume thing! I had a meltdown last year trying to find something that my son could wear but wasn't so babyish or too big boyish. We ended up with a tigger costume out of desperation and it was a little too short because of course I didn't try it on him. I had to cut the feet out... ha. So... this year... I ordered his costume online from Chasing Fireflies. He is a doctor and his scrubs have Dr. Eubanks on them... so cute and we are both happier this year. It was well worth the little extra money I spent! :)
ReplyDeleteAwww, I'm not looking forward to the day when my little man becomes *truly* independent LOL Sorry it was a hard day for you - on a brighter note, your card is super cute! Love the quote ;o) it's so true!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute, Randee!! love the shoes on the bottom and the bow is perfect!
ReplyDeleteSuper cute! You always come up with the best stuff! LOVE LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteLove your choice of designer paper for this quote. :) My guys are 9 and 12 and I told them for over 2 months that I would not spend $60 per costume from the catalogs that they wanted. But they still held out until the afternoon of Halloween to go through their bins and come up with something else instead.
