I love how the patterned paper I used (DCWV Mi Casa) for the umbrella ends up looking like raindrops! The raincoat pp was a little tablet of mat stack adhesive paper. The adhesive backed pp made it a snap to just cut it out, peel off the backing and glue it down. And here's the full card showing my interpretation of the awesome sketch Annie B came up with . . .
This little girl (well I'm assuming it's a girl :0) is one of my favorite images by Anna Wight for Whipper Snapper. I love pairing her with this awesome sentiment by Paper Makeup Stamps. I tried to keep the card pretty simple and I followed the sketch pretty closely. I popped up the umbrella on dimensionals to give it some height. And I sponged around the edges of the circle (while it was still in the Nestie) to emphasize the girl more. The gloves, buttons and umbrella handle were colored right on the pp with Copics.
Sorry the picture isn't up to par (ETA: I updated the post with another picture I took in the daylight). My DH was away with the computer and I didn't have a chance to use any photo editing software. I really need to get a light box figured out. Can you tell me what light source you use? I've tried a 100W daylight bulb, but that doesn't seem to make any difference. Maybe I'm just setting it up wrong. I've heard about the Ott lights, but I'm looking for something a little less pricey if I can help it :0)
Whether the weather is sunny or rainy, hope your day is great!!
Randee this is marvelous! WHen I saw the first close up I thought that WAS the card _ LOL -but then I saw the whole thing. Totally perfect image for paper piecing and what a fine tribute for the fight against Breast Cancer. Thank you SO MUCH for playing along with Just Us Girls this week. I hope you really had fun and will come back again!
ReplyDeleteRandee, your image is fabulous! I love the sentiment stamped on the pattern paper and wish I'd thought of that for my SG7 card!
ReplyDeleteI love this card....the image is GREAT... and your colors and choice of papers are perfect here...
ReplyDeleteWOW, this card is just goreous. The image, coloring everything has just come together so well :) awesome.
ReplyDeleteCute card, Randee! I love the umbrella - it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteAs far as the lightbulb goes, I use a Reveal 60 watt. It does a pretty good job. I have a fluorescent light in my craft cave that simulates daylight, so I sometimes use that too. Generally, no matter what the light source, my pics still need a little tweaking.
This is great Randee!! That image and sentiment are perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe paper you have used on the umberella looks amazing and her coat is so cute- Great card.
ReplyDeleteHi Randee! This is SO CUTE!! And that sentiment certainly looks familiar and is fantastic with that WS image! Thanks for playing our JUGs challenge this week. I hope you stop by again!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute. I love how the umbrella looks wet and the plaid is adorable.
ReplyDeleteI use a daylight lamp I got at home depot for $19. Works just like an Ott, but cheaper. I set my point and shoot to high ISO with the daylight setting and tilt the light source so it hits the front of my card. I use Picasa photo editing to adjust the white scale, sharpen, and then crop.
What an awesome card! Love the paper piecing!!
ReplyDeleteOh my..LOVE that umbrella and the paper pieced jacket! This is too cute with the layout you used and that fab paper!!
